Referees

We Need Referees!

As a volunteer organization, we need your help. We need volunteer referees!
Hello,
LBYSO still needs referees!!! If you refereed in the past and stopped, If you were certified and would like to get recertifed, or thought I would like to try it out and get paid for it. Then this is what you would need to do.

LBYSO is offering a two-day referee clinic on August 29th & 30th at Cabrillo High School . The class will be from 8AM to 5PM both days. The two-day clinic will cost $65.
This is an entry level clinic that is open to people that have never refereed before. Completion of the clinic will earn you an ‘R-8′ certification. Those that possess this R-8 certification will be qualified to referee games at all age levels within our league. You will also be eligible to join a referee organization and be paid to referee games in the future. The clinic is open to anyone who is 12yrs or older.

LBYSO is actively recruiting referees. Parents and older siblings are encouraged to get involved. This is a great part time job for high students!!! It’s a great way to learn the game, get more involved in your child’s sporting activities, support your community and get some great exercise!

IMPORTANT NOTE: All teams will be responsible for supplying at least one referee this season. Help support your child’s team and the league by becoming a referee!

As an added incentive, As an added incentive, all those that referee 10 games this season will have one of their child’s registration fees waived for the Fall 2010-11 season, and if 15 games are refereed all children in the immediate family are free for Fall 2010-11 season. As an additional bonus, if you complete 10 volunteer games with LBYSO, we will give back the $65.00 you spent on the R-8 class!!!

For those that just want to referee as part of the Volunteerism program, LBYSO will be hosting a 4hrs ‘crash’ course that will give you the basics you need to survive as a referee for the season. Note: You will not be a certified referee and you will not be able to do paid games in the future.

9/5 is the tentative date for the Basic Volunteer Referee Class (4hrs). This date along with the location and time will be finalized within the next couple of weeks.

This class is mandatory for all non-certified volunteer referees that each team will need to provide.

Please contact James Dixon the Head Referee for further information.
